Now let’s get into the best baby food recipes 6-8 months. Here are some yummy baby food ideas for your little darling!

PRO TIP: I always strive to make organic baby food and like to make a big batch so that I am not constantly whipping up food in the kitchen.

Baby Food Recipe 6-8 Months #1- Purple Sweet Potatoes

Purple sweet potatoes are a really fun first food for your baby. They also have plenty of health benefits. Purple potatoes have potassium, vitamin B6, and vitamin C. They are loaded with anthocyanin. Anthocyanins are antioxidants. These enhance our vision and brain development. For this reason, I decided to first introduce purple sweet potatoes to my baby.

I preheated the oven to 400 degrees and began scrubbing 4 sweet potatoes. You can buy large or small potatoes. I went with the large ones because I like to stock up on my freezer stash.

Next, I dried the sweet potatoes and used a fork to poke holes in them.

I placed the potatoes on a baking sheet and popped them in the oven for an hour or until they were soft.

Once they are ready to be removed from the oven, I sliced the potatoes down the middle and let them cool for a bit.

Once they cooled, I scooped out the beautiful purple goodness, placed in the food processor, and threw away the skin.

I added 4 ounces of breast milk to the blender to thin out the baby food. This makes it easy for babies to eat for the first time. You can add as much milk as you feel comfortable with. I suggest making it pretty thin for your baby’s first tasting.

Purple sweet potatoes are one of my daughter’s favorites! She is now almost two years old and sweet potatoes are still her favorite food. This is one of my favorite baby food recipes for 6 months. Let’s get to some more baby food recipes 6-8 months.

Baby Food Recipes 6-8 Months #2 – Avocado

This superfood is so nutritious and easy to make! This is another one of our family favorite baby 6 months food recipe. Make no mistake! This is also one of my favorite recipes for babies 8 months old.

I bought 3 ripe avocados, sliced them open, and of course threw away the pit.

I sliced the avocado into long strips.

You can either use a fork to mash the avocados or put them in the food processor. I chose to put them in the food processor. Less work that way!

I then poured in 3 ounces of my breast milk and continued to blend. You can make it as thin as your baby prefers.

So far, this is my daughter’s absolute favorite food. Mine too. She is just like her mama. Let’s get to some more baby food 6 months recipes, 7 months, and baby food recipes 8 months!

Baby Food Recipe 6-8 Months #3 – Butternut Squash

Butternut Squash is full of antioxidants, vitamins A and C, potassium, protein, and calcium. Which is why this makes for one of the best baby food recipes 6 months old babies need.

You will need butternut squash that is bruise-free, firm, and solid in color.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

I sliced it in half and removed all the seeds and stringy pieces.

Next, I placed the butternut squash on a baking sheet with the skin facing up.

I set the timer for 50 minutes. You want to make sure the squash is soft. Just like the sweet potatoes.

I let it cool for a little bit, scooped out the squash, and placed in the food processor.

Lastly, I mixed 4 ounces of breast milk and continued to puree. You can add more or less. Remember, the thinner the better when first introducing food.

Bananas are rich in nutrients. They contain potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin B2. Not to mention banana puree tastes like a delicious dessert (Yes, I have tried it!). I was so excited to introduce bananas to my baby.

I bought three perfectly ripe bananas. You want to make sure that you are not choosing to use bruised bananas. You want the bananas to be just right.

Throw the bananas in the food processor with 4 ounces of breast milk and blend until it was nice and smooth.

When my baby girl sees that banana is on the menu she smiles from ear to ear. This recipe was made on repeat for months.

Did you know that pears are great for digestion?

For this recipe, I bought 4 Bartlett pears. They contain fiber as well as vitamin C.

I preheated the oven to 400 degrees.

I gave the pears a nice rinse.

Then I cut the pears in half, removed the seeds, and placed them in a baking dish with the skin facing up. I lined the bottom of the dish with a thin layer of water.

I baked them for 40 minutes. You want to be sure that the pears are soft.
