- HR 29:Reach this HR to unlock the Assigned Quest "Beyond the Blasting Scales," which requires you to hunt two Tempered Bazelgeuse. You must complete the quest to raise your hunter rank further.
- HR 49:Unlocks the Assigned Quest "Thunderous Rumble in the Highlands," which requires you to slay a Tempered Kirin. You must complete this quest to raise your hunter rank further.
Before defeating the Tempered Kirin, consider stalking it for tracks, leaving the quest, then starting again a few times to acquire more Tempered Elder Dragon tracks. This is the easiest method to unlock tempered Elder Dragon investigations.
- HR 100:Unlocked the Optional Quest "The Sapphire Star's Guidance," which requires you to slay Tempered Nergigante, Tempered Kushala Daora, and Tempered Teostra in one quest. You must complete this quest to raise your hunter rank further. Reaching HR 100 also grants you the trophy/achievement The Established Hunter.
How to Raise Hunter Rank
Raising HR is as simple as completing quests. The more difficult they are, the more your hunter rank will raise after completing them.
Hunter Rank Cap
In previous Monster Hunter games, the cap has been HR 999, and this seems to be the same for Monster Hunter World!
