Navy Federal Secured Card Approved

I have started my rebuild journey and this is my first application and first inquiry on that journey. Opened a savings with NFCU last year and applied today and was approved for a secured NRewards card with a 1500.00 limit. My score is 507 using the Navy Federal tool to check. I have also just been added as a AU on a old account of my spouses so hopefully when these two new cards start reporting I can get a little boost to my score.

Welcome to the forum. I just read your post in the the rebuild board, and just a word regarding your scores. While NFCU has their own internal score, the score that Navy provides on their site is a Vantage Score 3.0 (VS3) from Trans Union. VS3 scores aren't viewed as very relevantin regards to underwriting decisions made by lenders.

It's more important to know and keep track of your progress based on what your Fico 8 scores are. If you haven't already, you can get your free Experian Fico 8 scores from Experian's site. You can also get a free Equifax Fico 8 score from here at myFico.

Getting that first approval for a credit card and always making on time payments on it is the first and most important step in the journey to great credit.
